Golden Globe Fashion

Its award season once again and that means Hollywood's biggest stars are feeling the heat to not have a fashion disaster on the red carpet. The right dress is not an easy decision because there is so much that goes into it like the color, right style, designer. It is important that the dress style and color is flattering to your body type.  I have my best dressed and worst dressed picked.

Blake Lively's Style

First off, congrats to Blake Lively on her new born baby, Violet! We all saw how amazing she looked pregnant,  I have never seen pregnancy look that good before but Blake Lively would be the one able to pull it off amazingly. Her pregnancy style really caught everyone's attention because of how stunning she looked but also because how dangerously she dressed. I mean how many pregnant women do you see in backless dresses, not many. Blake doesn't just have a killer pregnancy style, she also had great style before. Blake's pre pregnancy style is what I want to cover in today's blog. Her style is very modern,  and classy but casual. The best part is you can imitate her looks inexpensively at your favorite stores. Take a look at some outfits she wore and where you can afford to imitate them.  Check out my Pinterest for more outfit ideas. Gaby Northeim is my name on Pinterest. Bon Voyage! Gaby

Blake looks super stylish and warm in this attire. The scarf you can get at American Eagle for about $30, its called a blanket scarf. The jacket can be found at most places, Forever 21 has great stylish jackets like this one. They're usually about $30-$100. Gloves are tricky because most stores have the same kind and not this nice brand Blake has on. I would online shop Amazon or a department store for these. The boots I would get at a nice shoe store like Payless or a store like that, they're probably like $50.

The jacket is at Forever 21 for $30 and up depending on the style you get. Messanger bags are found mostly anywhere, I got mine at Target. They're about $30, sometimes less. The sweater is just a regular tan sweater, you can get anywhere. Forever 21 did have the scarf but do not anymore so I will get back to you on where you can find the scarf.

The Poncho is at Forever 21 for $32. The purse you can get one like it at Forever 21 or any department store. The heeled boots I would get at Macy's or Forever 21. The long sleeve can be purchased most places.

This outfit s probably the easiest to duplicate. The leggings are everywhere and so are jean jackets and gray tanks. I would recommend Forever 21 and Abercrombie thats wear I like to get my stuff from. Well I like Abercrombie tanks because they are tight and when on sale, actually affordable. The boots are found at most shoe places. Accessorize it with whatever kind of bag you want. The scarf can be found most places I like Forever 21 and American Eagle

Staying warm on that back to school grind

The holidays are over and now its time to get back to school and work while metaling preparing to survive January and February weather. I suggest everyone have multiple winter coats to wear like I discussed in my first post. I have a very warm and stylish army green parka from Forever 21 I will be using to trek across campus to my classes. I always love a cute sinched at the waist dress coat when going anywhere because it automatically makes you look put together.  Its also important to note that staying warm is not just about the coat, its also about your outfit. Jeans are warmer than leggings even though they are more uncomfortable. Wearing leggings or nylons under pants is a great way to keep your legs extra warm. Sweaters are my best friend during winter because they are super warm and stylish. Pair them with a big scarf and leggings for a great look! Tall boots are another great way to keep your feet and legs a little warmer. Thick, fuzzy socks are great during winter because they keep your feet warm and you can hide them in boots. If you want to look a little more dressy for school wear a nice pair of jeans or leggings with a nice sweater and statement jewelry. Also wear a nice pair of boots to dress up the outfit too. Jackets are another way to dress up a plain long sleeve or sweater. A nice blazer always makes an outfit look classier. Wearing a long sleeve v neck under it can keep you warmer while still look classy. Head bands are essential to winter also because they keep your ears warm while looking stylish while doing it. It is important to look your best to take on the new semester while staying warm in the freezing winter weather. Bon Voyage! Gaby

Fashion evolution in the Music World

I'm doing a little different post today because I took a trip to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame today and got inspired. I'm not a huge music guru but they have many different artists personal outfits and performing costumes and I was fascinated! It's amazing how style has evolved since the early 1920s and what has come back in style through out history. The different eras had such different style and the costumes the entertainers wore were pretty crazy at times. Even though us regular people may never wear a crazy jumpsuit like the metal rock bands of the eighties it's fun to see what women before us wore.

How to spend Christmas money on what you need

Well Christmas has come and gone once again and everyone has opened their gifts and received everything they hoped for. This time of year means lots of gift cards, Christmas cash and sales, sales, sales! With all that money and sales it can be overwhelming deciding what to buy. Luckily I learned a great way to figure out what I need and what I need to get rid of thanks to a class I took.  First off, you need to separate your clothes and count how many you have of shirts, sweaters, etc. After that look through your notes and see what you have a lot of and need more of. Use your Christmas money to buy what pieces your wardrobe is lacking. A cluster chart is another great way to decide what you need. To do a cluster chart you pick one basic piece you love and build outfits from that piece. You have two pairs of pants and two jackets and accessorize the different outfits. Keep the cluster to two or three colors when using 5 pieces. You can keep adding pieces and colors to the cluster to expand it. You should hang the cluster pieces together in your closet so its color coordinated and the pieces that go together are by each other and you don't have to search your closet for them. Your wardrobe is like a meal, its important to have your main dish or basic pieces but you also need side dishes or accessories. In that case make sure you note how many scarves, necklaces, etc you have so you can pick some up this season. It is always important to have an outfit for an interview or a funeral. My mother always says you have a funeral dress and get a new outfit for an interview. So check to see if you have outfits for both, its important you look the right part for an interview. A color chart is another great way to decide what you need and don't need. First find out what season you are. Seasons are based off your skin tone and features, like hair eyes, freckles, etc. To learn what season you are read the descriptions at the website linked here. http://www.theimagearchitect.com/articles/TheFourSeasonsofColor.pdf  After you know what season you are, you look at what colors are good and bad for that season. You then take a card put multiple good colors on it so you can pull it out when you're shopping to know if you will look good in a color. Its like your personal shopping helper! Hopefully this information helps with your post Christmas shopping! Bon Voyage! Gaby

Last minute Christmas outfits

With it being Christmas Eve today everyone is busy getting ready to celebrate but every year something is always missing. I know some simple ways to look your best with what's already in your closet. The best way to make an outfit pop is to accessorize it. If you're worried about wearing the same sweater dress it up with a cute scarf or a chunky necklace, these will make it look different than it usually does. Wear a skirt if you want to go dressier but didn't get a christmas dress. A skirt and sweater or blouse will give a classy look without spending money. Wearing your hair in a different style can also make an older outfit look different because people will notice your hair first. Jeans and leggings can easily be dressed up with heels or a cute shirt. Leggings are great for holidays because you're eating good food with your family and they are more comfortable to lounge around in and socialize in. Wearing a headband also can make an outfit look different and dress it up more. Shoes are another great way to dress up an outfit. Heels or flats make any outfit look a little classier. Adding a small cute jacket helps dress it up too. There are all kinds of ways to dress up an outfit for Christmas Eve ! Just look in your closet and you'll find loads of pieces waiting to be used! Hope this helps! Merry Christmas and bon voyage! Gaby
